Formatting Images

To enter online you will need to upload digital images of your work saved in jpeg format. All images should be as large as possible while remaining under 1 MB per image. Artists submitting works of sculpture may submit 2 images from different viewpoints.

If you are finding it difficult to follow the instructions on the submission page (ie you're not sure how to browse for a file etc.) please get help from someone who is a bit more familiar with computers. A son/daughter or any other local teenager should be able to guide you.

The images you submit for the judging will also be used in the printed catalogue and the online gallery should your work be shortlisted and ultimately hung. Please take the time or invest the money to have your work properly photographed.

Useful Tip

Each year we are amazed by the poor quality of many of the images submitted. Please remember when the judges are viewing hundreds of submissions in the initial stage of judging, the first impression is critically important. Images that are cock-eyed, distorted, poorly lit or include a cluttered studio (or even the artist!) do not do your entry justice.

If you want to learn more you may find the following website useful. It's an American site, but the advice is sound and the fairly basic instructions are easy to follow. Click here and the website will open in a new window.

If you are unable to upload your images or have only printed photographs you can enter your work by post.

Please note that postal entries are an additional £2 per entry and you will need to send a cheque or postal money order, credit card payments are not available for postal entries.
